Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County Mary Tucker with mentees

Meet Mary Tucker, one of Take Stock Sarasota’s Mentors of the Year

Mary is a dedicated mentor whose heart is always in the right place, especially with mentees. Mary currently mentors two high schoolers and previously mentored another student. Mary had known these mentees since elementary school, long before her involvement with Take Stock in Children. Talk about unconditional and long-lasting support!

It’s not unheard of for Mary to take a new mentee (officially or unofficially) when running into former students at the program’s group mentoring lunches. Take Stock Sarasota Mentor Coordinator Rebecca Lockwood states, “Mary approaches mentoring with a quiet, selfless, and compassionate beauty. It could be easy to overlook her because she just always does what she needs to do–beyond what she needs to do with ease. However, her heart shines through in every interaction you have with her and all she does, and we notice big time.”

Is this your time to become a Take Stock mentor? Learn how you can make a difference in a student’s life here.

“Even though we may not say it as much as we should,” Rebecca continued. “Mary is a true example of a mentor who meets their mentees where they are and with their best interests in mind. She helps create a scaffold for them to continue to grow and develop as they climb toward their goals. We are so fortunate for mentors like Mary, and I cannot think of a better person to have this honor.”

Mary’s mentee, Delvin, said, “Mary is very kind, having been my mentor for four years. She is a really genuine person, working not only with me but within multiple communities as well. She is just an all-around great person.”

Thank you, Mary, for all you do for Take Stock Sarasota! We appreciate your dedication to your mentees and community!

In honor of Mentoring Month, we’re asking you to sign up for a FREE Mentoring Changes Lives license plate voucher and help us spread awareness about the importance of mentoring. Did you know?
