Take Stock Orange County students match with their dream schools through the QuestBridge Scholarship

We proudly announce that two Take Stock in Children students from the Class of 2025 from the Orange County program have been named QuestBridge scholars! QuestBridge connects high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with a thriving community and transformative educational, career, and life opportunities that help propel them to lives of fulfillment, meaning, and purpose.

From the Horizon Scholars Take Stock in Children program: “We are extremely proud to share that TWO of our seniors have matched with their dream schools through the Questbridge Scholarship!

Questbridge’s mission is to create a more equitable society where students can dream big, reach their potential, and contribute to the world. Their dedication to academic and personal excellence has paid off! We cannot wait to see the impact they will make and the dreams they will achieve!”

Evan F., a senior at Olympia High School in Orange County, had this to say about this outstanding opportunity. “I am thrilled to share that I have been awarded a full-ride scholarship to Hamilton College through QuestBridge! This scholarship covers tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, and even travel expenses—a truly life-changing opportunity.”

“When I moved to the U.S. in 2016, the dream of attending a prestigious university on a full scholarship seemed impossible. But through hard work, resilience, and the support of so many amazing people, I am living that dream. Only in this nation could a Sri Lankan boy with a thick accent achieve this level of success, and I am endlessly grateful for the education and guidance that made it.”

“Many think this nation’s best days are behind us, but I believe our best days are here and ahead of us. Only in this country can a brown boy with a thick accent strive for and achieve levels of success once unimaginable.”

“Receiving this scholarship reflects not only years of academic and extracurricular effort but also overcoming personal challenges. It reminds me of Tupac’s words: ‘The rose that grew from concrete.’”

As Dr. King once said, ‘Only when it is dark enough can we see the stars.’ To my QuestBridge Match friends, we have become those stars, shining brightly and paving the way for the future.”

From all of us at Take Stock, Congratulations to Anna, Evan, and all our Class of 2025 graduates!
