Jonathan

County: Volusia County

My life changed when I was called up to the principal's office in eighth grade to learn I had been accepted into the Take Stock program and was going to have an opportunity to go to college. I was paired up with two mentors in law enforcement. My mentors along with the staff at TSIC are the reasons I was able to thrive in school and in serving my community. I graduated from Spruce Creek High School (SCHS) with the Class of 2013. This was a huge accomplishment because I actually finished high school one year earlier. I also received a huge honor by being bestowed a hall of fame member at SCHS. I was selected along with a few other students from the entire senior class to have my picture stay on the wall at SCHS forever. I devoted over 500 hours of community service my senior year while working 30 hours a week and taking classes at Daytona State College. I have continued studying at Daytona State College (DSC) to earn my business administration degree. I continue to work as an intern at Giles Electric Company, and am involved in the STEM club at DSC. Take Stock in Children gave me the support I needed to choose a better path than I was on, gave me hope for a bright future and opened many doors full of opportunity.
