A Take Stock in Children scholar, Christian Vallejo graduated from Palmetto Ridge High School in 2015 with a 5.13 GPA, ranked 7th in his class, and while attending Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). He was a member of the Palmetto Ridge Spanish National Honor Society and the FGCU National Honor Society. He was also the founding president for the FGCU chapter of the American Red Cross. Christian now attends the Emory University and plans to graduate in 2019. His top goals for 2016-2017 are: maintaining his commitment to travel abroad for a semester thru an internship or as community service and create a nonprofit organization that helps immigrants prepare for their citizenship test. Most recently Christian became the founding Vice President of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) club as a freshman. That isn’t all he has accomplished his freshman year, he has also been extremely involved on campus. Christian became the Treasurer of the Hispanic Club, participated in the Camp Kesem fundraising committee, and was Secretary of the Global Health Club on Campus. He even traveled to Honduras over the summer through the Global Medical Brigades helping underprivileged communities and participating in research at FGCU. Upon graduation he plans to take a year off to work around a farming community helping improve living conditions and increasing human rights that illegal immigrants have when working in the profession. After that year he plans on starting medical school to become a reconstructive surgeon specializing in burn victims.
