Through Take Stock in Children, Amalio received a mentor and a scholarship and successfully graduated from high school as a Gates Millennium Scholar going on to attend Florida Gulf Coast University and earn a degree in Biology. “The largest impact that TSIC has had on me is it provided me with the realization that I could attend college and with this new mentality, I felt more motivated in my educational efforts.”
In an effort to give back to those who were following in his footsteps, Amalio devoted his free time during his college career to tutoring other Take Stock scholars in math and science. After graduating, Amalio became a Take Stock mentor. “There is no better way to give back to my community than to become part of an organization that helped me achieve my dreams,” Amalio said.
This fall, he will be attending the University of Florida to pursue his career plans to become a dentist. Amalio plans to return to Immokalee to start a practice and provide dental care to his hometown.
