Sponsored by American Express, Take Stock in Children's Leadership Excellence and Performance program provides TSIC staff easy to access online and in-person professional development. Amanda Frey, Excecutive Director of the TSIC Broward Pogram, says LEAP is a great resource for leadership tools and tips to help her manage her program. Amanda is one of 70 staff members to access LEAP offerings in the past seven months. To date, LEAP participants have taken courses on Coaching for Change, Morale and Inspiration, Handling Conflict, Public Speaking, and Effective Communication. LEAP also brought University of Michigan Distinguished Professor of Business and Psychology, Jane Dutton, to the TSIC Leadership Summit in February to train staff on recognizing and nurturing Positive Work Identities. Tatila Brock, a program coordinator with the TSIC Alachua Program, says LEAP is both convenient and collobrative by allowing her to take classes at her own speed, chat online with other participants, and attend in-person workshops during TSIC's annual conferences. "As an individual who wants to ascend the management ladder in the nonprofit world, LEAP has opened my eyes to areas where I can better develop into the leader I aspire to be," Tatila said. Thanks to American Express, Take Stock staff are making leaps and bounds on their professional development to better serve Florida's at-risk youth through scholarships, mentors and hope.
