Meet the 2018 Leaders for Life Fellows

Adriana Amaris-min

ADRIANA AMARIS

  • Lee County

Adriana attends Fort Myers High School where she boasts a 5.1 GPA and is ranked 20th of 456 students in her graduating class. She is an active member of Mu Alpha Theta - Math Honor Society, the Chamber Choir, Science National Honor Society, Health Occupations Students of America, Pay it Forward, Scholar's Club, orchestra, Rho Kappa - History Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and serves as co-president of the Fort Myers Science Association. She also tutors chemistry and volunteers at a local hospital. Adriana hopes to attend Florida State University to major in biology, pre-med, and eventually become a surgeon.

Asia Lavendar-min

ASIA LAVENDER

  • Lake County

Asia, with a 4.4 GPA, is dually-enrolled and ranks 64th of her 500 senior classmates at Lake Minneola High School. She is involved in Future Business Leaders of America, varsity weight lifting, and National Honor Society. She volunteers in her community in a church youth group and choir and with Kids R Kids. Asia also currently works as a crew member at Link Printing and Zaxby's. Upon graduation, she would like to attend the University of South Florida to major in business and eventually receive a Ph.D. of philosophy in business.

Michele Velez-min

MICHELE VELEZ

  • Seminole County

Michele attends Winter Springs High School where she has a 3.96 GPA and is ranked 67th out of her 488 senior classmates. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Greyhounds Give. She actively volunteers at Florida Hospital, The Sharing Center, and the Casselberry Library. Michele would like to attend Florida International University or the University of Central Florida to major in nursing.

Shauna Norwood-min

SHAUNA NORWOOD

  • Hardee County

Shauna attends Hardee High School and with a 4.2 GPA, is ranked 13th in her class of 284 students. Impressively, she will graduate high school with her AA degree. She is involved in the National Honor Society, Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America, the softball team, Collegiate Program, Team Adrenaline, Building Class, and the Physical Science Club. In her spare time, she volunteers with Florida Hospital Wauchula, PowerLight Productions, and Paint the Town. Shauna's dream is to attend the University of South Florida to major in medical laboratory technology with the ultimate goal of becoming a cytotechnologist.

Amelia Wood-min

AMELIA WOOD

  • Brevard County

Amelia currently holds a 4.2 GPA at Titusville High School. Ranking 38th of her 280 senior classmates, she is dually-enrolled and will graduate with her AA degree. In addition to working as a part-time court monitor at Sky Zone, she is busy at school as a member of Mu Alpha Theta - Math Honor Society, Latin Club, and National Honor Society. She also participates in her high school marching band, orchestra, chorus, and the chorus solo/ensemble, and runs on the cross-country team. Amelia volunteers with the IRC Summer Blast, Music Mentoring, and is a RunDisney Volunteer. Upon graduation, she would like to attend the University of Central Florida to study mechanical or biomedical engineering to further her interest in prosthetics and sports.

Victoria Estevez-min

VICTORIA ESTEVEZ

  • Palm Beach County

Victoria is an International Baccalaureate student and dually-enrolled at Forest Hill High School. With a 4.2 GPA, she is currently ranked 38th of her 627 graduating classmates. An honor roll student, she serves as president of her high school's Health Occupations Club, is a member of the National Honor Society, and is president of Students Against Melanoma. Victoria is the varsity tennis team captain, and also plays varsity volleyball and soccer. Outside of school, she works part time at Old Navy and Rapids Water Park. She is also a volunteer at St. Mary's Medical Center, Eye & Ear, and Blessed Paw Rescue. Victoria will attend the University of Florida to major in biomedical studies.
