Meet the 2013 Leaders for Life Fellows



Esther Benette

Esther Benette

  • Florida State University - Class of 2016
  • Palm Beach County

Esther Benette graduated from Glades Central High School in Palm Beach County. She was a member of the NHS, held office as class Vie-President and was the yearbook Editor-in-Chief.  She was dually enrolled and graduated 3rd in her class where Esther had a 4.75 GPA upon graduation.  She was a member of Women of Tomorrow, volunteered on the blood drive committee and taught Sunday school. Esther also found time to volunteer for Haitian Heritage Day.  Esther graduated from Florida State University in 2016 and teaches Algebra and Geometry at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee.

Ben Carpenter

Ben Carpenter

  • University of Central Florida - Class of 2017
  • Hillsborough County

Benjamin Carpenter graduated C. Leon King, International Baccalaureate High School in Hillsborough County.  He participated in the Tampa Thunder Soccer Team as captain, a member of the NHS and French Honor Society he also founded the non-profit company, “Ben’s Mends” and was awarded the Ernst & Young, “Youth Entrepreneur of the Year” and Xerox’s “Award for Innovation and IT”.  Ben held a 6.32 GPA and graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2017.  He is currently working in Orlando as an engineer.

Kaylee Mancillas

Kaylee Mancillas

  • University of Central Florida - Class of 2017
  • Hardee County

Kaylee Mancillas was dually enrolled at Hardee High School in Hardee County with a 4.53 GPA and was nominated Homecoming Queen and a four time recipient of the Principals Overall Academic Achievement Award.  She was the President of the NHS and Senior Class Vice President and Student Council member.  Kaylee graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2017 with Finance B.S.B.A. degree.

Wade McDonald

Wade McDonald

  • University of Central Florida - Class of 2017
  • Citrus County

Wade McDonald attended Lecanto High School in Citrus County where he earned a 4.32 GPA as a dually enrolled student.  He was a member of the NHS, Kiwanis Key Club and worked part-time.  He was awarded President Obama’s Community Service Award, Eisenhower’s People to People Award and the Boy Scouts World Conservation Award.  He graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2017 with a Mechanical Engineering degree and is now employed as a Lighting Engineer at ZIO in Orlando.

Katty Pierre-Charles

Katty Pierre-Charles

  • University of South Florida - Class of 2018
  • Manatee County

Katty Pierre-Charles hails from Manatee County and graduated from Manatee High School.  There she was a member of the MCSAC Youth Leadership Academy, Marching Band, JROTC and a Teen Hospice volunteer.  She was awarded the Bright House Youth Service Award and placed 1st in the Lockheed Martin Manatee Regional Science and Engineering Fair.  Katty had a 4.5 GPA and graduated as an AP Scholar.  In 2018 she graduated from the University of South Florida with an Engineering degree.
