Esther Benette

Esther Benette

Take Stock in Children Scholar Esther Benette graduated from high school in 2013 with a 4.748 GPA, ranking third in her class. She went on to attend Florida State University where she graduated in 2016. She interned at Godby High School in Tallahassee teaching 9th grade Algebra 1. Currently, she’s teaching Algebra I and Geometry at Lincoln High School, also in Tallahassee. She says she’s enjoying the experience and is looking for more ways to get involved at the school. In the near future, Esther plans to pursue a master's degree in educational leadership.

Ben Carpenter

Ben Carpenter

Take Stock in Children Scholar Benjamin Carpenter graduated from high school in 2013 with a 6.32 GPA. He went on to attend the University of Central Florida and graduated in 2017. As an undergraduate student, he placed second in the world with his team in the Thales Arduino Competition and 7th in the county with Tampa Thunder, his competitive power soccer team. He also traveled to Argentina as a member of the United States power wheelchair soccer travel team to run a clinic for South American players. He currently works as a design engineer for Ashland Technologies in Orlando where he’s responsible for getting all its projects from concept to manufacture. This summer, he’ll be a member of Team USA for the 2017 Power Wheelchair Soccer World Cup and will compete with his club team for a national championship title.

Kaylee Mancillas

Kaylee Mancillas

  • Undergraduate Education: University of Central Florida

  • TSIC Alumni from Hardee County

Take Stock in Children Scholar Kaylee Mancillas graduated from high school in 2013 with a 4.35 GPA. She then attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a B.S.B.A in finance and a minor in real estate in 2017. While a student, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and the Financial Management Association. She completed a two-week intensive professional development and training program for finance in New York City, and interned for Bank of America in Charlotte, NC on its Cross Border Regulatory Reporting Team and Jackson Wealth Management as a financial analyst/client service manager. Kaylee is currently working full time at Bank of America in Charlotte, NC as a financial analyst in a two-year rotational program called the Finance Management Associate Program. Throughout her future journey, she plans to pay it forward and become a Take Stock mentor and help aid in the educational development of students.

Wade McDonald

Wade McDonald

  • University of Central Florida - Class of 2017

  • TSIC Alumni from Citrus County

Take Stock in Children Scholar Wade McDonald graduated from high school in 2013 with a 4.12 GPA. He is currently entering his final semester at the University of Central Florida and will be graduating in fall 2017. While a student, he has competed in the UCF IDEAS Engineering Showcase competition where he finished first. He’s interned with Honeywell in Gesiar, LA and completed an externship with ZIO in Winter Park, FL. Additionally, he was a student leader committee member for the Engineering Leadership Innovation Institute (Eli2) and the Entrepreneurship Student of the Year for the Career Advancement Mentoring Program for Young Entrepreneur and Scholars (CAMP-YES) at UCF. He is a LEAD Scholars Program graduate and UCF Arboretum Garden volunteer. Outside of interning and studying, he participated in the UCF Founders Academy where he received the designation of ‘Team of the Year’ and pitched to venture capital for co-founding a preliminary start-up company called Rapid Response, a company that creates technology for making law enforcement officers safer. Wade is currently a ride system mechanical engineering intern for Universal Creative (Universal Orlando Resort) in Orlando, FL. After graduation, Wade would like to give back to Take Stock by becoming a mentor or team member.

Katty Pierre-Charles

Katty Pierre-Charles

  • University of South Florida - Class of 2018
  • College Focus: Chemical Engineering
  • TSIC Alumni from Manatee County

Take Stock in Children Scholar Katty Pierre-Charles graduated from high school in 2013 with a 4.5 GPA and was chosen as a Florida Girls State delegate. She now attends the University of South Florida and plans to graduate in 2018. She’s currently in the process of working on a minor and studying for the FE exam, with her sights set on graduation in the near future. Notably, she has been recognized as an ACS Scholar. Following graduation, Katty is evaluating whether to enter the workforce or attend graduate school. Ultimately, she hopes to become the CEO of a company.
