Angela Alford

Angela Alford

Take Stock in Children Scholar Angela Alford graduated from Niceville High School in 2011. She went on to graduate from Florida State University with a bachelor of science in 2015. She’s currently in graduate school, with a concentration on social work, at the University of Southern Mississippi and plans to graduate in 2019. Outside of school, she competed in her first CrossFit competition in May 2016. In the future, Angela hopes to work in a clinical setting that will allow her to work with military members and their families.

Michael Burris

Michael Burris

Take Stock in Children Scholar Michael Burris graduated from the University of Florida in 2015 with a degree in graphic art and design. He continues to live in Gainesville, FL where he is a photographer, writer, and artist at MB Media and Design.

Valiece Long

Valiece Long

Take Stock in Children Scholar Valiece Long graduated from the University of Florida in 2015 with a degree in African American studies. She also attended Louisiana State University where she earned a master’s degree in biological sciences. Valiece is currently working in the medical field. She hopes to attend medical school in the near future, and plans to become a physician.

Maria Cami Rincom

Maria Cami Rincon

Take Stock in Children Scholar Maria Cami Rincon graduated from Pompano Beach High School in 2011. She went on to graduate from Harvard University, where she majored in economics, in 2015. She currently works at BlackRock as part of its marketing team for the Latin America & Iberia Group. In the future, she hopes to pass the CFA Level I Exam and explore a more technical/quantitative role with her employer.

Ha Tran

Ha Tran

  • Graduate Education: Florida International University, College of Medicine - Class of 2020
  • Undergraduate Education: Duke University
  • TSIC Alumni from Santa Rosa County

Take Stock in Children Scholar Ha Tran graduated from Pace High School in 2011. She then attended Duke University where she majored in neuroscience with a certificate in global health. She served as the chairperson for the Duke Global Medical Brigades chapter and held the position of associate editor in the undergraduate research journal “Neurogenesis.” Currently, Ha is in her second year of medical school at Florida International University College of Medicine. Outside the classroom, she conducts research to examine cerebrovascular complications associated with synthetic drug use. Additionally, she spent a year in Singapore designing a project to facilitate small-scale medical centers in Southeast Asia. The online platform she created connected these medical centers to med students in various countries, providing centers a way to reduce their workload and medical students an opportunity to practice their diagnostic skills on real patient cases. She even created a mobile app designed to promote changes in patient behavior through motivational interviewing. She plans to graduate from medical school in 2020 and is looking forward to becoming a caretaker for her community, a research scientist, and an educator.
