Take Stock in Children Scholar Ha Tran graduated from Pace High School in 2011. She then attended Duke University where she majored in neuroscience with a certificate in global health. She served as the chairperson for the Duke Global Medical Brigades chapter and held the position of associate editor in the undergraduate research journal “Neurogenesis.” Currently, Ha is in her second year of medical school at Florida International University College of Medicine. Outside the classroom, she conducts research to examine cerebrovascular complications associated with synthetic drug use. Additionally, she spent a year in Singapore designing a project to facilitate small-scale medical centers in Southeast Asia. The online platform she created connected these medical centers to med students in various countries, providing centers a way to reduce their workload and medical students an opportunity to practice their diagnostic skills on real patient cases. She even created a mobile app designed to promote changes in patient behavior through motivational interviewing. She plans to graduate from medical school in 2020 and is looking forward to becoming a caretaker for her community, a research scientist, and an educator.
